Identified Materials in Everyday Use

Copper Iron Alloy: Melting of copper and iron by forging process. Good conductors of electricity. FCC crystal structure for copper. Many uses for copper such as, fencing, electric wiring, circuits, door knobs, etc.

Glass: Amorphous crystal structure. Using Silica (liquid sand) to for the structure at high temperatures. Uses of glass consist of mirrors, doors, and glass cups.

Stainless Steel: Composed of iron-carbon and chromium alloys. BCC or FCC depending on temperature. Has high tensile strength, and produced at low costs. Uses involve kitchen blades, building construction, furniture, etc.

Clay:Ceramic made of iron, aluminum, alkali metals, and other minerals. Crystal structure involves, stacking tetrahedral sheets. The metals are originally FCC structure before being process and melted into clay. Clay is then molded and heated to become a ceramic piece. Uses involve, concrete, dishes, personal body care.

Wood: Contains Hydrogen, Carbon, Oxygen, nitrogen, and other elements. Important material of wood, would be the cellulose. Utilizes bonding mechanisms, due to the molecular structure. Uses involve; construction, furniture, and instruments.

Iron: Building contains iron ore, and other metal alloys. Crystal structure of Iron is BCC. Process was done by casting and melting iron metals. Properties allow for brittleness and toughness. Uses involve weapons, construction, machinery.

Cement-Clay: Same as previously mentioned. Cement is a type of ceramic made from alkali metals. Used for the material was to build this samurai temple.

Limestone: A sedimentary rock, consists of materials such as calcite and aragonite which are crystal formations of calcium carbonate material. Uses for building construction, toothpaste, or paints.
